Its getting there, I find drawing using the tablet a little hard.

I added a background and done more shading.

This was going to be my final piece, but I don't like the way it was turning out.

I prefer this one because the face is more like mine than the other one.

Gazelle Hybrid

Gazelle/Human Hybrid

I started of with a black silhouette and added details to the head.

More details and tones, I added a fur brush which I created.

More details added.

More detail added to the torso. Its not fantastic, but I quite like the way the leg has turned out more than anything else because of the way the tones make it look realistic and the hoofs look slightly shiny.

Progress of my Essay

The Goat Form in Demonology

Introduction

In this essay there will be research that looks into the forms of various demons and finding out what their connection is to the goat. The research will be mainly looking at those that resemble the goat which includes fauns and the Devil. The information that will be used is taken from these books: ‘Gods & Demons’ (O’Neill, 1993), ‘The Devil’ (Link, 1995) and ‘Devils’ (Neret, 2003). The internet will also be used to find out more information and research from the film Pan’s Labyrinth. There will be a small part that looks at goats in Greek mythology and finding out what makes them important.

  • Finding out where the Devils goat features come from
  • Research into Pan
  • Study of Fauns
  • Goat like demons in culture
  • Greek mythology surrounding the goat

Hand Studies

Hand designs for a Gazelle-human hybrid

Life Drawing

Only had about 5 minutes to draw one pose.
We had to draw only using triangles and four sided shapes for this pose.

Photoshop Drawings

I started drawing in black and white first to get the shape and the tones right.
I added more shading and added an extra horn and changed the background colour.
I then added some colour.
I took out the third horn as I didn't like it.
The finished drawing of what my creature could look like.

Life Drawing

The Human form

We had to draw the flesh and bone seen on the human body. On this drawing I concentrated more on the legs than anything else, that's why the figure appears to have a small head. The drawing looks a bit abnormal to me.

Next we were given 20 minutes to draw a part of the body, then another 20 minutes to draw another part, then 20 minutes to draw our last body part. I was drawing the muscles and bones seen under the skin in all three sketches.

Thomson's Gazelle mixed with human DNA

Head designs

Thomson's Gazelle designs

My creature is the Thomson's Gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii)

It is a common gazelle often seen across the plains of East Africa traveling in groups. It is an incredibly agile mammal, leaping up high and out maneuvering the cheetah with quick turns and higher endurance, its able to keep going when the cheetah begins to exhaust itself.
